Side Quests.

Not everything I build is for a client. These are the things I started because I could not stop thinking about them: a clothing brand, a music data company, and a word game you can play right now.

One of them is gone, one is retired, and one is live. Every one of them was built by a very small team, sometimes a team of one, and every one taught me something I still use every week.

Wordchainer

Live now at wordchainer.fun

A daily word game you can finish before the coffee cools.

Wordchainer started as the TikTok word chain game my friends and I kept playing out loud, so I built it into something you could play alone. Every day there is one public chain: you get the first word, the last word and the first letter of everything in between, and you guess your way across. Share your time, build a chain for a friend, or race someone head to head.

What I learned

Ship the small version first. The web app went live months before the iOS app I originally planned, and it was the shareable link, not the app store, that got people playing.

SoundLogic: the anatomy of a hit song

soundlog.io

Moneyball for music.

SoundLog took the audio feature metrics Spotify attaches to every song (key, tempo, energy, danceability and more) and turned them into insights the industry could act on. The kind of thing you could not unsee once you saw it: in 2020, 90% of the songs on RapCaviar were in C#. It grew into a catalog management and intelligence tool for publishers and labels, with a songwriter spotlight series on the side.

Friend of the Family

A clothing brand for the people you would save a seat for.

Friend of the Family was a hat and apparel brand built around one line: this is your invitation. We shot it like a dinner party, sold out of every hat at our first pop-up, saw our Nero cap on Noah Beck in an Adidas shoot, and ran a collab with Bar Next Door and Prince Street Pizza. Then we let it go.

Let's talk.

I build these for clients and for teams I join. If your content operation still runs on a group chat, lets fix that.
